BOOKKEEPING, TAX & ENTITY RECOVERY

Behind on your books or taxes? Let’s get your business back on track.

E

See how we help.

Falling behind can happen quickly. We help business owners reconstruct their records, address overdue filings, restore their corporate compliance and put a reliable system in place for what comes next.

Does this sound familiar?

Months or years of uncategorized transactions

Statements exist, but the bookkeeping was never completed or reconciled.

Unfiled corporate or personal returns

Deadlines passed while missing records, uncertainty or competing priorities piled up.

Outstanding HST or payroll obligations

Returns, remittances or account reconciliations need immediate attention.

CRA correspondence you are unsure how to address

Requests, notices or reassessments need to be organized and reviewed.

Corporate records and filings are incomplete

Annual returns, registers, resolutions, licences or other entity records have fallen behind.

q

Financing or planning is stalled

Lenders, investors or management need current, credible financial information.

The longer a backlog sits, the more difficult it becomes to see the real condition of the business. The right first step is to establish the facts.

Address the backlog - and the system that allowed it to build.

We organize the work around the obligations, records and decisions that matter most. The final scope is tailored to the client and confirmed in an engagement agreement.

Arrears bookkeeping and reconstruction

We gather available statements and records, reconstruct transactions, reconcile accounts, identify missing information and prepare usable ledgers for the periods in scope.

Typical work may include:

  • bank and credit-card reconciliations;

  • transaction review and categorization;

  • accounts receivable and payable review;

  • shareholder and related-party account review;

  • fixed-asset and loan schedules; and

  • catch-up bookkeeping for multiple fiscal periods.

Corporate and personal tax coordination

Once the records are sufficiently complete, we coordinate the preparation and filing of the applicable corporate or personal income-tax returns, including self-employment activity where relevant.

Typical work may include:

  • T2 corporate income-tax returns;

  • T1 personal returns and sole-proprietor schedules;

  • prior-period information gathering;

  • notices of assessment review; and

  • CRA authorization and communication where included in the engagement.

HST and payroll accounts

We review outstanding periods, reconcile available records and help prepare the information required to bring indirect-tax and payroll accounts current.

Typical work may include:

  • HST/GST return preparation and reconciliation;

  • payroll account and remittance review;

  • T4/T4A information coordination; and

  • identification of missing or inconsistent records.

Financial statements and management reporting

Clean records should become useful information. We prepare the agreed financial reporting and help management understand what the numbers say about the business.

Typical work may include:

  • internal financial statements;

  • compilation engagements when separately agreed and professionally permitted;

  • management reporting;

  • cash-flow and working-capital analysis; and

  • lender-ready information packages.

Entity management

Tax compliance is only part of corporate compliance. We help organize corporate records and recurring entity obligations so important filings do not disappear into a desk drawer.

Typical work may include:

  • corporate-profile and status review;

  • annual-return tracking and coordination;

  • registers, resolutions and minute-book organization;

  • business-name and licence renewal tracking;

  • director, officer and shareholder record coordination; and

  • recurring compliance calendars.

Entity-management services do not constitute legal advice. Legal work is referred to or coordinated with an appropriately licensed legal professional where required.

Financing and capital readiness

Current records can make it easier to evaluate financing options and present the business credibly. Where appropriate, Cedargrove or an affiliated business may help assess capital readiness after the accounting foundation is repaired.

Financing is subject to underwriting, eligibility, lender requirements and separate engagement terms. No financing approval is promised.

Establish the facts. Fix the right things. In the right order.

STEP ONE

Confidential discovery call

We discuss the business, periods outstanding, known notices, available records and the immediate pressure points.

STEP TWO

Preliminary records review

We identify what exists, what is missing and whether specialist tax, legal or other regulated support may be required.

STEP THREE

Scope, priorities and engagement

You receive a defined scope covering periods, deliverables, client responsibilities, assumptions, estimated timing and fees.

STEP FOUR

Reconstruction and filing work

Records are collected, transactions are reviewed, accounts are reconciled and the agreed returns or reports are prepared in a controlled sequence.

STEP FIVE

Ongoing operating system

We establish a recurring bookkeeping, reporting and entity-compliance schedule designed to prevent the same backlog from returning.

Note:

Completion time depends on the number of periods, transaction volume, record quality, third-party response times and the client’s speed in providing information.

READY FOR THE FIRST CALL

You do not need perfect records to begin.

If the records were already perfect, you probably would not be here. Bring what you know and what you have. We will help identify the gaps.

Do not send tax records, identification, banking documents or other sensitive information through the public website form. Secure document-transfer instructions will be provided after the initial call.

BUILT FOR WHAT COMES NEXT

It starts with compliance. Better management is the objective.

A late filing may be the immediate problem, but it is rarely the only problem. Business owners also need timely records, responsive advice, clear responsibilities and information they can use.

A complete view

Bookkeeping, tax, reporting, entity obligations and capital readiness are considered together.

Defined scope and accountability

Periods, deliverables, information requirements and responsibilities are documented before substantive work begins.

Technology-supported execution

Secure workflows, recurring task management and modern accounting systems reduce preventable delay and confusion.

A forward operating rhythm

The engagement is designed not only to clear arrears, but to make timely bookkeeping and compliance routine.

The right professional boundaries

Work is performed, supervised, referred or coordinated according to the professional and regulatory requirements that apply.

Questions business owners ask before they begin

How far back can you help us go?

We can assess multiple prior periods. The practical scope depends on the availability and quality of records, the obligations involved and the professional requirements applicable to the work. The initial review will establish what can be reconstructed and in what order.

Can you speak with the CRA for us?

Where included in the engagement and after the required authorization is in place, an appropriately authorized professional may communicate with the CRA regarding agreed matters. Authorization does not guarantee a particular CRA decision or outcome.

What if some statements or receipts are missing?

Missing records are common in catch-up engagements. We first identify available third-party sources and material gaps. Any estimates, assumptions or unresolved items must be handled according to applicable tax and professional requirements.

Can you stop interest or penalties?

We cannot promise that interest or penalties will be reduced or cancelled. We can help establish the facts, complete agreed filings and identify whether relief options should be reviewed with an appropriately qualified tax professional.

How long will it take?

Timing depends on the number of periods, transaction volume, condition of the records, complexity of the entity and how quickly requested information is provided. We provide an estimated work plan after the preliminary review.

Do you offer an ongoing service after the backlog is cleared?

Yes. The preferred outcome is a recurring bookkeeping, reporting, tax and entity-management calendar that keeps the business current.

Will clean books help us obtain financing?

Reliable financial records are often required to evaluate a financing request and may improve readiness. Approval remains subject to lender underwriting, eligibility, security, cash flow and other requirements.

Is the first call confidential?

We treat inquiries with care and limit the initial discussion to information needed to understand the situation. A public inquiry does not itself create a professional-client relationship. Do not submit sensitive records through the website.

START WITH THE FACTS

Let’s find out what is outstanding and build a workable route forward.

Schedule an introductory call to discuss the periods involved, available records and your most urgent concern. You do not need to solve the backlog before speaking with us—that is rather the point.
